Round 2 - The end of TWO weeks

Today is the last day of week TWO! Things have been going pretty well. This weekend has been a little challenging (weekends always seem the hardest). We celebrated Mother's Day in Bloomington, one of my favorite places! There are so many yummy restaurants there... it was a little challenging. I did make it work! Saturday night I was supposed to have squash and a veggie. Instead, we ate at Upland Brewing Company and I got a mixed green salad and a veggie burger (no bun). I brought my own water and my supplements and brought Shakeology for breakfast. For lunch today, I was supposed to have Coconut Kabocha Squash Soup and Microgreen salad with pumpkin seeds. We went to the AMAZING Bloomingfood's Market and Deli, Co-op that has all natural/specialty foods. They happen to have an awesome organic salad bar. I had a microgreen slad with pumpkin seeds (from the bulk department) and a raw medley from their grab and go. I so wish we had a Bloomingfoods right next to us... or we could just move to Bloomington! Maybe.. some day.

I've not been sleeping very well at night, so that might be making me tired during the day. I'm still feeling body aches. I might make a trip to the chiropractor and get my back adjusted, that is where I'm feeling the most sore. I'm going in to the third and final week and I'm a little nervous. The third week was the hardest for me to do in the first round. The meals in week 3 are not varied and it is pretty much the same breakfast and lunch every day this week. EEK! I can do this. I've done it before, I can do it again. I must remember my goals and my 'why.'

I had a few moments where I just wanted to give in, but you know what?... when you pay as much as you do for the Ultimate Reset... it really gets your 'buy in".. literally and figuratively. I made this investment in MYSELF. I am doing this for me and for my family.

I'm planning on doing the Reset backwards when I'm done. Except for my birthday.. I'll have a cheat meal then! Maybe a glass of wine. :)  I didn't do the Reset backwards last time, so we'll see. You just need to make sure you reintroduce foods slowly.

Round 2 - Day 12

So, I've been AWOL from here for the last few days... but that's just because my husband has been out of town and I've been busy wit the kiddos and organizing my life, oh and going to the grocery store and cooking. It's a good thing though, I'm forcing myself to cook and grocery shop... normally I hate doing it and I need to learn that it is a part of life right?

This week I'm adding the supplement "Detox" pre-meals. It actually tastes better than the last time I completed the Reset. Yes, it isn't the most appealing supplement, but I don't think it is that horrible.

Major win today! My husband says he sees a lot of changes but no one else had until today! My good friend noticed and said I'm looking great.... well, I'm feeling great! I may be a little tired still, but I'm attributing that to the fact that I'm detoxing from an anti-anxiety medicine (chemical) and there are lots of toxins to get out! I've also been a single parent all week, which can be challenging. Seasonal allergies are also making me feel a little foggy, especially my eyes.

So....... I also cheated this past week. Here's what happened: I received a note in the mail about the USPS food drive that will be happening Saturday. I looked in my cabinet to see if I had anything to donate. I saw that I had blueberry muffin mix. I decided to make it for the kids. I ended up eating one! I knew I shouldn't have made them in the first place, I just couldn't control myself. I'm not proud and I want to share with you... that no one is perfect. I shouldn't have ate it, but there's nothing I can do about it now and let me tell you, I didn't feel very well after I ate it. SERIOUSLY!

I feel that I'm feeding the kiddos better too. Epsom salt baths make your skin feel amazing. Foods that I would've never made before are delicious. I love miso. My life is wonderful.

Round 2 - Why am I doing the Reset?

So, why am I doing the Reset again? I've got several reasons...

The biggest and baddest is that I recently weaned off my anti-anxiety meds (with doctor's assistance). My doctor confirmed that the reason I hadn't been losing the baby weight (and why I gained so much) was the medicine. Over the last two years, I have been pulled strongly toward chiropractic care and natural medicine. One of the big things I wanted to do was get off this medicine. Now that I've been off of it for a couple months I want to detox my body.

Due to the above, I haven't been losing any weight. I did P90X3 and the 21 Day Fix workout programs and lost several inches but hardly any weight.

I weaned Baby Roman from nursing (you're not allowed to do the Reset while pregnant or nursing due to the strict diet as well as the supplements).

I went back on the dt coke for caffeine. I so wish I liked coffee or tea. Now I'm off it and want to get those toxins out of my system as well.

The overall reason this time is to get the toxins out. Losing weight and inches would be great, but I'm really just wanting to get the ball rolling.

Round 2 - Days 6/7

The WEEKEND! It is very exciting to have one week done already. This weekend was especially hard because we went bowling on Saturday (PIZZA! NACHOS! BEER! SODA!) and Sunday we went to my in-laws and had yummy bbq pork, baked beans chips, roasted green beans, and apple pie. I ate my own food and abstained from all the yumminess. It was sooo hard though.

As a former sodaholic it has been really hard to resist the temptation sometimes this entire week!

Round 2 - Why the Reset for a Cleanse/Detox?

Why should I cleanse or why am I doing the Reset?

When you think about it, it's amazing just to be alive. Living in this modern world, where new technologies and industrial advances arrive on a near-daily basis, can sometimes seem absolutely miraculous. But all these modern conveniences have come with a price.

We're breathing air that's far from pristine, drinking water that's not even close to being pure, eating foods laced with things we can't even pronounce - chemical additives, preservatives, and pesticides - and absorbing toxins contained in everything from our children's toys to the pillows where we lay our heads.

A toxin is defined as any compound that has a detrimental effect on cell function or structure. Toxins, or man-made contaminants, include industrial chemicals and their polluted by-products, as well as pesticides, food additives, heavy metals, drug deposits, secondary smoke, and environmental hormones. Each year, more than 4 billion pounds of toxic chemicals are released by industry into the nation's environment, including 72 million pounds of recognized carcinogens.

Here's the good news: Your body is a very resilient, very efficient machine, able to neutralize or eliminate most of this chemical onslaught on a daily basis. The bad news is that this incredible machine is being pushed to its limits - and you can probably feel the resulsts in the form of lower energy, weight gain, and a weakened immune system.

To put it simply, our bodies - our own personal survival machines - are now strugging to do what they used to do much more easily.

You might not be able to change the environment (although hopefully, we'll all try a little harder!), but you can change yourself. With a little assistance, you can help your body do again what it once did naturally - absorbing more of the things that are good for you and getting rid of the things that are bad.

That's what the Beachbody Ultimate Reset is all about. In just 3 weeks, you'll steer your body from mere survival back to a state of "thrival."

In just 21 days, you'll take back your power. Bolster your health. Release what no longer serves you. Learn. Cleanse. And if you're not already, you'll become 100 percent in awe of the remarkable creation that you are.

Taken from the Beachbody Ultimate Reset guide.

Round 2 - Days 4/5

Still going strong. It feels like it is getting easier and easier. Instead of a fresh fruit plate (lots of cutting!), I just had a Shakeology (CHOCOLATE!) on day four. It is so nice to have that option. Also, I loved the lentil lime salad yet again as well as the stir-fried veggies. I'm not going to lie, I am spending a lot of time in the kitchen. Thankful for dishwashers because there are lots of dishes too. I am also wishing I had a bigger refrigerator for all the amazing produce that I'm using. Luckily, we have a back up fridge in the garage that I've been using. It's just a long trip to the garage (first-world problems). I'm also dragging my gallon(s) of distilled water everywhere I go.

Day 5 was hard, I wanted sweets/sugary things. It was also pizza night. I almost ordered one for the rest of the family, but how much torture can I take? We all ate together at the table even though we had two separate meals. To combat the chocolate need I just tried to drink more water and I had a Shakeology snack in the afternoon to give myself a treat.  I thought I would really miss my dt coke habit, but so far I'm doing great and I never did have any caffeine withdrawal symptoms like I did last time!!! LOVE THAT!

I haven't been able to get daily walks in, the weather has been too cold/rainy and we've just been so busy. I have been getting nightly epsom salt baths however and a dry brush on my skin every other night. I didn't do these things on the last Reset and I actually do think it is helping my sore muscles. Why are my muscles sore? because I'm getting the toxins out of them... weird right? I've been sore in my back where I always hold stress as well as my jaw muscles because I have some TMJ. I'm still amazed at how fast the Reset starts working. I'm sleeping pretty well, but still getting tired in the afternoons.

I honestly feel like I'm getting my life put back together as well. I'm working on organizing/cleaning more parts of the house (like my work desk). Soon, I'll start getting things organized for a garage sale in June. I'm also tackling big issues within my relationship with my hubby. Not necessarily bad issues, but just things we need to be on the same page about together.

I'm also dredging up old feelings that I've long glossed over.... things that have happened in the past. I'm wanting to reach out to dear friends and I wish there was more time in the day to do it all. When you read through the companion guide that comes with the Ultimate Reset they tell you all these things that are "side effects" but you really don't believe them.... I'm here to tell you that it actually does happen!

Round 2 - Day 3

I tried to like the cucumber salad again... I really did, but I just don't like cucumber that much, it was just TOO cucumbery. I can eat cucumbers in small amounts, just not a whole bunch at once. I spent a lot of time in the kitchen on day 3. I had to work at the Y from 4-8 so I had to bring my dinner and have it ready by 3.45. I had it all ready and even had the kid's dinners done! Only... I forgot Xavier's dinner on the kitchen counter, so had to buy him Subway (YES, there is a Subway in our Y!).  My sushi also didn't roll well for today's dinner, but I did think to double the recipe for Day 4's lunch.

So far, things seem a lot easier than last time. I know what I'm doing and I'm confident I can get through the 21 days!

However, on Monday the crock part of the crock pot fell out of the kitchen cabinet when I was reaching for something else. We're starting to outgrow our house and it is hard to keep organized sometimes, especially after we packed everything up for our move and didn't end up moving and put things back. I was so frustrated about the state of things that I decided to clean, purge and organize. Almost completely done with the kitchen, although I'm sure I could purge more. I have heard that the Reset makes you clean/organize your outside world while you are working on cleaning the inside of your body. Makes sense.

I am having challenges making all of the food and sometimes eating all of the food. I think I had that problem last time I did the Reset. I was so thankful this morning for the option to use Shakeology for Breakfast. It was awesome to not really think about getting it all around as well as preparing food and the kids for the day. The Vegan Chocolate Shakeology is also curbing my sweet tooth craving. I've used it a couple of times as snacks (only half a serving) and it really hit the spot. It is much easier to stick with the Reset if you get a little chocolate!!

Another challenge I'm having is the body aches. I've been taking epsom salt baths every night but also need to start using the foam roller. It is all good though, because it means it is working! Be gone toxins!

Want to know one thing that is AWESOMESAUCE?! I've not had caffeine since Sunday and haven't had ANY withdrawal symptoms. Completely different than the first time I did the Reset! I don't know how it is different, maybe the fact that I'm taking epsom salt baths, dry brushing, walking more and using Chocolate Vegan Shakeology or a combination of them all, but I'll take it!

Ultimate Reset - Round 2 - 2014 - Days 1/2

Hi everyone! I'm embarking on the Ultimate Reset AGAIN! I've weaned baby Roman and now I'm ready to get rid of all of the toxins! More on that as we go along of course.

I started Monday, April 27, 2014. I was super excited to start this again, so Day 1 was pretty easy. I was pretty tired physically because my husband was traveling for work. Not sure if I was tired because of the Reset or tired just because I was a single parent for a couple days. It actually went really well for the first day! I actually had forgot that starting midweek is better for you because days 3/4 can be pretty rough. Oh well! I did have to do a last minute store run for a few things because I wasn't completely ready for the Reset. This past weekend was busy preparing for Roman's 1st birthday party. I got in a lovely 25 minute walk pushing the kids in the double jogger around the park. I also got a good dry brush and detox bath in the evening after the kids went to bed.

Today, day 2 has also gone very well. I had my first 'weakness'... after work I wanted to drive thru (anywhere) and pick up lunch so I wouldn't have to worry about preparing it when I got home. It was kind of a stressful day. The baby is really unhappy because he's getting teeth... several of them and was practically inconsolable while I was at work.  The rest of the day went pretty well. I love the dinner - Southwestern Veggie Taco - only problem is ... I wanted more! Today, I'm feeling more run down and even more tired. Is it possible that the cleanse is working so fast? It's 9 pm and I'm gonna get a detox bath in and head to bed.

I'm excited for sushi tomorrow! Have a fantastic day.
